FAQ’s
How are you responding to COVID-19?
At this time, sessions will be held outdoors where possible
Face masks are to be worn by all students during indoor lessons (if Daft Punk can do it, so can you).
We will require all students to bring their own headphones until further notice (If you are unable to do so, please let us know in advance and we will try our best to accommodate).
All equipment will be sanitised before and after the lessons
Hand sanitiser / plastic gloves will be providedHow many people to a lesson?
You will be sharing the class with a maximum of 4 other people, plus your teacher.
We work with a “back-to-back” format, where all students rotate to spend time on the equipment throughout the session.Which lesson should I book?
Lessons are organised into 3 tiers
Beginners: Most suitable for those that have little to no previous experience. In these sessions you’ll learn the key functions of the equipment, how to best organise your music, and the basics of beat-matching.Intermediate: Best for those with some understanding and experience of mixing and are looking to fine-tune their skills. If you’re a bedroom DJ, or you want to prepare for your first time playing to a crowd, this is the lesson for you. In these sessions, you will learn how to manage an audience, play on a club sound-system, as well as tips and tricks from seasoned veterans.
Practice
You’ve probably been DJing for a little while (or haven’t for a while), are confident and want to practice using a club sound-system. There will still be a teacher present to provide you with additional guidance if you need it.
I don’t have any music, can I still come?
Of course! Our teachers have a variety of music at hand on USBs. However, we highly recommend you bring a USB formatted with Rekordbox, as this means you’ll get the most out of your lesson.
Where do you get your music from?
There are a number of online sources.
We would recommend:
Bandcamp, Beatport, Juno, Phonica, Bleep…
… and supporting your local record store where possible.
We would NOT recommend downloading your music via any ‘YouTube to mp3’ or illegal download sources.Do you offer private hire / 1-2-1 sessions?
Yes we do! Please see our ‘Contact Us’ section for more information. How long are the sessions?
Sessions have a runtime of 2 hours with the opportunity of a 10 minute break in the middle. We recommend coming over 15 minutes early to avoid interrupting the flow of the session once it has started.
